Hyundai Reveals Innovative E-Corner System for Future Vehicles

The Hyundai Mobis subsidiary of Hyundai has unveiled an innovative new driving technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas, called the E-Corner System. This cutting-edge system allows vehicles to drive sideways, as well as featuring electric motors, shocks, brakes, and steering to create a complete package. In the future, this technology could be standard in all Hyundai vehicles.

The Hundai Mobis has been developing this technology for some time and has previously showcased a prototype of the “crab” steering system, which moves wheels at a 90-degree angle. The E-Corner System is an upgrade on this technology, offering further functionalities to allow for more responsive driving, such as diagonal driving that involves positioning the wheels at a 45-degree angle to help avoid obstacles on the road.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the First Vehicle to Use the E-Corner System

The company has modified the electrical systems of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 to include the E-Corner System, which allows the vehicle to park parallel while adjusting the angle of the wheel. This feature could be useful for anyone parking in tight spaces.

Through successful demonstrations of the technology on the road, Hyundai has enhanced trust in the reliability of its innovation, which is becoming increasingly important in the current climate of electric and autonomous driving.

“The Successful demonstration of the technology on the road will increase the trust of customers in the reliability of the technology, placing it at the forefront of electrification and autonomous driving,” said Cheon Jae-Seung, head of Future Technology Convergence Institute (FTCI) of Hyundai Mobis.

Hyundai Continues to Work on Connectivity and Electrification

As for the availability of the E-Corner System in vehicles, Hyundai has not yet announced a timeline. The company is continuing to develop components for connectivity and electrification to complement the tool.

Despite these developments still underway, the E-Corner System represents an exciting advancement in the future of driving that will transform traditional vehicles into technologically advanced machines. The Hyundai Mobis team’s innovative approach to enhancing vehicle capabilities could pave the way for increased adoption of electric and autonomous driving technologies.

Hyundai’s Forward-Thinking Approach to Driving Tech

With the unveiling of the E-Corner System, Hyundai continues to position itself as an innovative force in the automobile industry. The company’s forward-thinking approach to driving technology could lead to a revolution in the way people drive in the future.
